Overview of Services

Cleanroom is located at SNA building (SNA B182) occupying a 760 m² ISO Level 5 area that hosts state-of-the-art equipment to produce electronic/optoelectronic components, integrated circuits and micro/nano-electro-mechanical systems. All equipment infrastructure and wet benches are designed to be suitable for processing different samples ranging from small samples up to 6-inch wafer sizes. In a particulate-free and controlled area, the cleanroom offers the capability of wet and dry etching and coating of organic and inorganic, conductive, insulating and semiconductor materials by different methods. Horizontal and vertical scaling can be carried out, ranging from a few nanometers to hundreds of micrometers. In this way, the production, analysis and testing of single and multilayer functional structures (in the form of on-chip devices, sensors, systems, circuit elements and circuits/indexes) can be performed.

 MEMS/NEMS-Advanced Characterization Laboratory is located in SNA B137.  

Integrated Biomolecular Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Mass Spectroscopy Facility & Electron Microscopy Laboratory -located in ENG-B203-has dedicated high-resolution and atomic-resolution Electron Microscopes enabling imaging down to 0.68 Angstroms. Capabilities range from micro/nanoscale modification and prototyping through focused electrons and ions to the determination, analysis, and classification of organic/inorganic molecular structures, chemical properties, surface structures through spectroscopic methods.

How to?

Users need to follow procedures to get ID access to n2STAR Facilities and Laboratories (e.g. Cleanroom)

Users may submit requests for services regarding their special needs within the core. To do so, they must fill out the necessary forms and provide as much information as possible to the lab managers. Lab managers will evaluate the service requests and inform the users through the iLab system. 

Users who have been granted access privileges to use an equipment may submit reservations through the system. They can change the date and time, send information to the lab managers, or invite other users to the reservation. 

The Principal Investigator (PI) plays a key role in iLab organization.  PIs and their lab members can join departments and centers, be assigned account strings, and request access to equipment and services. 

The PI (or a delegated representative) can approve membership requests for their lab, add or remove lab members, assign funds/accounts, and has multiple options for controlling or approving research spending by lab members.
